New Orleans in January and February was great fun. Carnival season kicked off in January with a full schedule of events leading up to Fat Tuesday (Mardi Gras in French) on February 16th. Over 70 krewes put on parades in the weeks before Mardi Gras. We attended 5 parades. Masked float riders tossed beads, cups, stuffed animals, and other throws to the cheering spectators. The Saint's Superbowl victory added an extra level of enthusiam to this year's Carnival.
