Caribbean Soul headed south for her first cruise down
the Texas coast. For 10 days in late May and early June, we
ventured down to Port Mansfield and Port Isabel (South Padre).
Five boats from the Bay Yacht Club (BYC) made the trip to
Port Mansfield: NoETA, Star Gazer, Hail Columbia, Jole
Blon, and Caribbean Soul. After the BYC boats headed
home, we made the offshore passage to South Padre. John and
Nancy on Turning Point joined us there for the remainder
of the trip.
With our first shakedown cruise logged as a success, the
big question is: where next?!!!

Leaving the notorious Port Mansfield jetties
and the muddy ICW behind us, blue-green Gulf water ahead!
NOTE: We saw just 9' of water on the north
side of the jetties at high tide with calm seas.

Cruising the ICW: a little to the left, a

This cruising life is so exhausting!
